Collection & your data — what to expect

The single most common complaint about online lending in the Philippines is collection abuse — calls to family, threats, public shaming on Facebook. None of that is legal. Aprubado is a matching service and never collects debts itself, and we only match you with SEC-licensed lenders that agree to the collection standards below. This page is your reference for what lawful collection looks like — and how we handle your data.

Contact only 8 AM - 9 PM

Lawful collection stays within reasonable hours. Calls at odd hours breach SEC MC 18.

📵

No contact-list calls

A compliant lender never contacts your family, employer, or phonebook about your debt.

🔒

Your data stays for matching

Aprubado shares your form data only with lenders you can match with, only to make offers.

📝

Disclosed escalation path

If a lender we matched breaks the rules, you have a documented path to report and escalate.

What a lawful collection process looks like

This is the sequence a compliant SEC-licensed lender should follow if a payment is missed. Aprubado does not run this process — your lender does — but knowing it helps you spot abuse.

  1. 1
    Day -3 (before due date)

    Reminder SMS

A friendly SMS reminding you of the upcoming due date and the amount. No fees, no pressure.

  2. 2
Day +1 (one day past due)

    First overdue notice

In-app notification + email. You should receive the full breakdown of overdue principal, accrued interest, and the late penalty (capped at 5% per month).

  3. 3
    Day +3

    First voice call

An in-house agent during business hours. The call should be recorded. A compliant lender confirms payment instructions and offers restructuring if you mention hardship.

  4. 4
    Day +7

    Restructuring offer

A formal restructuring email: extended term, smaller installments, or grace period. Accepting requires e-signature.

  5. 5
    Day +30

    Account flagged

The account may be referred to a licensed partner collection agent, who must identify themselves and follow the same conduct rules. A reputable lender never sells the debt to unknown third parties.

  6. 6
    Day +60

    CIBI / TransUnion report

The delinquency is reported to credit bureaus per R.A. 9510. Resolution updates the record; it does not erase history.

What a lawful collector will never do

Contact your family, employer, or anyone in your phone's contact list
Threaten violence, arrest, or public exposure
Use profanity or culturally offensive language
Call before 8 AM or after 9 PM Philippine time
Contact you on Sundays or public holidays
Demand payment via personal GCash to an individual account
Misrepresent themselves as police, NBI, or government agents
Forge court orders, summons, or legal documents
Post about your debt on social media
Add charges or penalties not in your loan agreement

Reporting a collection violation

If any of the above happens — from a lender we matched you with or anyone claiming to act on their behalf — report it within 48 hours. We investigate every complaint, raise it with the lender, and review whether they remain in our network.

Frequently asked questions

Does Aprubado collect debts or chase repayments?+

No. Aprubado is a loan-matching service — it does not lend money and never collects repayments. Once you accept an offer, all servicing and collection is handled by the SEC-licensed lender you chose. This page explains the conduct we expect from every lender in our network so you know your rights.

Will a lender you match me with call my family or contacts if I miss a payment?+

A compliant SEC-licensed lender will not. SEC MC 18 s.2019 prohibits contacting third parties about a borrower's debt. We only match you with lenders that commit to lawful collection; if one calls your contacts, report it to us and to SEC EIPD.

What hours can a lender contact me for collection?+

Under SEC MC 18 s.2019, collection contact is limited to reasonable hours (generally 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Philippine time). A collector calling at 2 AM or threatening you is in breach — document it and escalate.

What if I can't pay a lender on time?+

Contact your lender BEFORE the due date. Most SEC-licensed lenders offer restructuring (extended term, smaller installments) for borrowers in genuine hardship. Reaching out early always produces a better outcome than missing the date silently.

Can a lender add late fees or charges I didn't agree to?+

No. All fees — including late penalties capped at 5% per month of the overdue amount per BSP MC 1133 s.2021 — must be disclosed in your loan agreement. Any fee claimed beyond that document is not enforceable.

What if a lender you matched me with violates these rules?+

Report it within 48 hours to compliance@aprubado.ph (or via the form on /complaint-resolution). We investigate, raise it with the lender directly, review whether they stay in our network, and support you in filing parallel reports to SEC EIPD and NPC.

What data does Aprubado collect, and who does it go to?+

Only the information you enter in the matching form, plus basic technical data. With your consent, it is shared with the SEC-licensed lenders you can be matched with, solely to check your eligibility and generate offers. Aprubado does not sell your data or use it for anything beyond matching, in line with the Data Privacy Act (R.A. 10173) and NPC Circular 2022-02.

These are the collection-conduct standards Aprubado requires of every SEC-licensed lender in its network. Aprubado is a loan-matching service operated by Virix Labs (UK Co. No. 16325097) and does not collect debts itself. Updated 2026-06-20. Aligned with SEC MC 18 s.2019, NPC Circular 2022-02, R.A. 9510, R.A. 10173.
